THE African Union for Housing Finance (AUHF), a member-based association of mortgage banks, building societies, housing corporations and other organisations involved in the mobilisation of funds for shelter and housing on the African continent will hold its conference and annual general meeting from the 14th – 16th of September 2016, at the prestigious PTDF Center, CBD – Abuja.

AUHF is grounded on developing the institutional capacity of its members to enable them to effectively participate in addressing housing finance challenges on the continent; engaging with governments through member institutions; and developing partnerships with other regional and continental bodies on the African continent.

The Conference will be attended by the 52 Member States and stakeholders from across the continent. Nigeria’s Honorable Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, and the Honorable Minster of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, will deliver keynote addresses at the Conference. Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele (CON) will be the special Guest of Honour and will flag off the Conference.

The conference is structured around key themes ranging from the potential of public-private partnerships to unlocking hidden potentials, to the challenges of funding the mortgage portfolio, the opportunities to be found in rental housing and housing microfinance, and the strategies to address the challenge of affordability. With an agenda structured around presentations in plenary and panel discussions, as well as a housing marketplace to support focused conversations between investors and projects, the conference will attract stakeholders from across the continent, all with the express purpose of furthering investment in affordable housing.

Major speakers have been invited from International Finance Corporations, China African Development Fund, Global Housing Solution, Centre for Affordable Housing Finance among others.
The International event will feature the training of participants at housing Microfinance Academy and 32nd AUHF AGM.
