NIGERITE Limited, a building solution provider, last week organized a seminar for carpenters and other related artisans across the country. It was aimed at impacting the proper use of its products.
Artisans from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Kogi and Kwara, benefited from the seminar.
At the training, held at Orile Iganmu, Lagos, the Brand Executive Nigerite Limited, Mr. Oluwatuyi Thomas, said the firm was educating carpenters on the best ways to install its products.
“It is a good thing for a product to have a very good quality and it is another thing for it not to be installed properly, so that is why we engage them (carpenters) in the proper installation of our products,” he said.
He said since carpenters work on roof tops during construction, instilling safety consciousness in them was imperative, hence, the training was an ‘eye-opener’ for the artisans.
“Since we are partners in progress, we want them (carpenters) to be safety conscious and that is why we are training them in whatever they are doing, especially when they are on the roof, so that they won’t get themselves injured. Nigerite as a socially responsible company takes steps to ensure that our stakeholders and partners also inculcate the best safety culture,” Thomas added.
Thanking Nigerite, Head of the Professional Carpenters and Furniture Markers Association (PCFA), Surulere 2, Deacon Sunday Okwuise, said the seminar was a veritable avenue to educate and enlighten his members so that they could improve on their job.
Most carpenters are still using the same knowledge acquired 10 to 20 years ago, Thomas said, adding that with regular seminars, they were learning new trends and technology to do their job efficiently.
