Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Alhaji Muhammed Musa Bello has charged the heads of the various departments to ensure strict compliance with all applicable laws and implored them to discharge their duties and responsibilities proportionately.
He stated this when he visited the Departments and Agencies under his office. According him the rule of law must be respected. “The laws are supposed to guide you and they shouldn’t be flouted; effective application of extant rules and regulations and publications of the public would ease your work,” he stated.
According to him, “Abuja is the ultimate city in Nigeria and a model for Africa and we cannot afford to negate it.”
Alhaji Bello noted that the FCTA also has enormous potentials for revenue generation which if well harnessed could make the provision of infrastructure and services in the FCT much easier.
The Minister therefore directed the management of the Authority to cut down on avoidable expenses and block leakages; charging them to improve service delivery and efficiency for enhanced productivity.
While noting the challenges highlighted by the staff, the minister assured that such challenges though daunting were sumountable with close collaboration and partnership from all.
The Minister assured them of his preparedness to provide the needed support to move the Federal Capital Territory to greater heights.
The Permanent Secretary, FCT, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye, and sone senior aides of the Minister accompanied him on the visit.
