How to expand access to affordable housing in Africa will be the focus of stakeholders in the built environment as participants from 10 countries and 200 indigenous companies gather at the 10th Abuja Housing Show scheduled for 18th to 20th July, 2016. The Abuja Housing Show is an annual one stop-shop for real estate stakeholders presenting new products, innovative services and technology. It is a unique forum where practitioners in the housing and construction industry meet to exchange ideas and proffer solutions to housing problems.
The forum offers an ideal platform for networking, meeting visitors who have buying capacity face to face and sealing deals. Over the years, the event has been able to generate not only high quality audience and sale for exhibitors but also great bargains for attendees. Participants are expected from Turkey, China, Netherlands, UK, USA, Ghana, South Africa, Ireland, Kenya and Brazil. The event is organised yearly by FESADEB Communications Limited, producer of Housing Programme on AIT Abuja and Housing Time on Raypower FM will also showcase top building materials producers and housing finance companies.
The theme of the event, “Expanding Access to Affordable Housing in Africa” will be declared open by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. Speakers from Spain, South Africa, USA, Gambia and Nigeria have been carefully selected to deliver lectures on diverse topics. According to the organisers, Minister of Power, Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola is the Chief Host while the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muhammad Bello is Guest of Honour.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of FESADEB Communications, Barr. Festus Adebayo, at a press briefing, said there will be lottery and award dinner to mark the 10th anniversary of the show and appreciate stakeholders for their efforts in the industry. He said the star prize for the lottery is a vast piece of land to be won through a raffle draw. According to Adebayo, the Abuja Housing Show which is similar to the American Builders Show has contributed immensely to housing development in Nigeria. He said the programme has led to creation of stand-alone Ministry of Housing in Jigawa, Rivers and Bayelsa states.
